Meet Our Staff

At Pine Ridge Day Camp we have an energetic, passionate staff that understands the importance of helping children make great memories. Our summer camp staff of senior, junior, and specialty counselors and support staff work hard to make sure each camper has a great experience at camp and are kept safe. Our year-round staff works with our equestrian program and the preparations for summer camp each year.

Our counselors are carefully screened before becoming employees at Pine Ridge Day Camp and Equestrian Center.  We conduct multiple interviews, background checks, pre-employment screening, and other necessary screening measures. For more information about our staff and hiring processes, contact us at 256-778-9999.

Year-Round Staff

Kelie Cook - Camp Director

Kelie has worked at various camps throughout the country, primarily in residential camping through the YMCA, for over 10 years. Kelie was also the Education Coordinator at the Idaho Humane Society beginning in 2018. With IHS, Kelie ran day camps and taught humane education in schools with her dog Riley. In late 2018, she graduated from Touro University Nevada with a Masters in Camp Administration and Leadership.

Kelie moved to Alabama in January of 2020 with her husband Alex, to pursue her goals in the camping industry. In their free time, they enjoy home improvement projects, wine-tasting, and spending time with their pets. They have two cats (Blue and Khaleesi) and a dog (Riley).

Brad Romine - Camp Director

Brad Romine was also instrumental in the purchasing of Pine Ridge Day Camp & Equestrian Center in 2007. Not only has Brad served as the Camp Director since the beginning, he is also the Chief Executive Office of Pine Ridge’s parent company: the Centers for the Developmentally Disabled, North Central Alabama, inc. Brad has been married to his wife, Lissa, for 25 years. Together, Brad and Lissa have three children: Cody, Lexie, and Ian. Cody and Lexie are both graduates of Athens State University, and Ian attends the University of North Alabama.

Jordan Ryberg - Program Coordinator

Jordan has been camping for over 27 years – nearly her whole life – and loves being part of camp history. She began in 1993 as a camper at Pine Hill Day Camp, completed the Counselor-In-Training session in 2006, and became a counselor that same summer. When Pine Hill was sold to CDD NCA, Jordan followed the year after. Jordan has served as a general counselor, equestrian counselor, kitchen staff, arts & crafts counselor, archery instructor, and photographer before becoming the Program Coordinator at Pine Ridge in 2019.

Jordan is passionate about fostering community and growth in youth development, and loves all things camp-related. Outside of camp, she spends time with her family or her two cats, Louie and Sushi. She also enjoys dance, theatre, writing, and equestrian activities.

Summer Camp Staff

Before camp starts, our counselors meet for intensive orientation, training, and brainstorming sessions. This allows them to prepare for the summer camp season and share creative ideas to keep making Pine Ridge Day Camp better each year. We maintain a low staff to camper ratio to ensure that every camper is able to maximize their camping experience. Our safety precautions include lifeguards stationed at all water activities and a full-time nurse.
