15 Things Camp Has Taught Us

Posted by on 14th Sep 2015

Every day we learn something new. At Pine Ridge Day Camp, our staff members know this as truth. They are constantly faced with new scenarios where they have to think on their toes and come up with an effective solution. Our counselors know what it takes to get the job done, but go above and beyond to make sure that everyone receives a great camp experience. I asked our staff what camp taught them this past summer and the following are some of their answers. Of course, I told them that their answers could be serious or funny so…enjoy!

Camp taught me…

1) “that lifelong friends could be made in the duration of a single summer”

2) “to be humble”

3) “that not all kids are the same”

4) “just how much attitude matters”

5) “to double and triple check everything”

6) “that, as a counselor, you can never have too many Band-Aids”

7) “that mud fights are fun”

8) “that water balloon fights can actually not be chaotic”

9) “that it doesn’t matter what age you are, camp songs still rock”

10) “that breakfast for lunch is the favorite, of course”

11) “that Ranger boys like to build stick houses for their pet rocks and give them names”

12) “that mustard, ketchup, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, peanut butter, and jelly smell horrible when mixed together”

13) “that mustard stains your clothes and syrup in your ear is difficult to clean”

14) “that being a camp counselor is so much more than just a summer job”

15) “that one day at camp can change a life"

“Thank you to all Pine Ridge Day camp staff for helping my son S. grow in skills and confidence this summer. He’s a great swimmer now and approaches new experiences with enthusiasm. Many Thanks!”
